Accudata Systems Earns "Qualified Security Assessor" Certification from Payment Card Industry

HOUSTON, TX, OCTOBER 1, 2007 -- Accudata Systems announced today that it has been officially certified as a “Qualified Security Assessor” (QSA) by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Standards Council based in Wakefield, MA. Earning this significant designation means that Accudata Systems is authorized to conduct on-site QSA audits for any type of business that processes, transmits or stores credit card data. Once a business reaches a certain threshold of credit card transactions, an annual on-site QSA audit is required in order for them to be in compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

“In addition to conducting QSA audits, Accudata Systems has the expertise to perform PCI pre-assessment preparation and remediation, including the ability to guide clients through the subtle nuances of the PCI standard,” said Brian DiPaolo, Assessment & Compliance Practice Manager for Accudata Systems. “The payment card industry developed the PCI Data Security Standard to protect the privacy of credit card holders and reduce the chance of identity theft. As a result, having access to a QSA is more important than ever because payment brands like American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard and Visa have made compliance with this standard a requirement to ensure the privacy of their customers.” Accudata Systems has consultants with extensive security compliance knowledge, certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CEH and CHS-III (Homeland Security), and over six years of payment card compliance expertise.

The PCI standard has established compliance validation requirements for merchants and service providers of various levels. These levels are defined based on the number of credit card transactions or accounts managed per year and have specific audit requirements such as an on-site QSA audit or the completion of a PCI self-assessment questionnaire.

“The ability to conduct on-site QSA audits along with PCI compliance preparation is a natural complement to our other strategic assessment services which include ISO 17799 control reviews, policy development, business continuity planning, enterprise vulnerability assessments and penetration testing,” says DiPaolo. “These new capabilities, combined with our quality assurance and project management processes, will provide our clients in the payment card industry with an extensive menu of assessment and compliance services.”
